In an exclusive interview with ESPN Argentina, Lionel Messi revealed that Inter Miami will be his "last club" and acknowledged that there is "not a lot of time left" in his illustrious career. The 36-year-old joined Inter Miami last summer, bidding farewell to his 20-year tenure in Europe, where he represented Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Since his move to Inter Miami, Messi has been in sensational form, scoring 14 goals in all competitions for a team currently leading the Eastern Conference this season. Joining him in this new chapter are his former Barcelona teammates Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

Messi, hailed as an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, holds numerous records, including being Barcelona's all-time top scorer with an impressive tally of 672 goals. During his two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, he netted 32 goals and provided 35 assists. Throughout his decorated career, Messi has accumulated a staggering 40 trophies for both his clubs and his national team, Argentina. Notably, he claimed four Champions League titles and secured a historic Copa América title.

The crowning glory for Messi, however, is the 2022 World Cup victory with Argentina in Qatar. Reflecting on this triumph, Messi shared that it granted him a new perspective on his career. Despite a trace of apprehension that the end is near, Messi aims to cherish every moment on and off the pitch. He emphasized the importance of enjoying his time with Inter Miami alongside his talented teammates and friends, as well as with the national team.

Even though injuries prevented Messi from participating in Argentina's matches against El Salvador and Costa Rica in March, he remains a crucial part of the team's bid to retain the Copa América later this summer. His return to the international stage was marked by a victorious performance against Ecuador on Sunday.

Messi also responded to comments made by Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé regarding the competitiveness between the European Championship and the World Cup. Messi pointed out that while the Euro boasts exceptional teams, leaving out three-time champion Argentina, five-time champion Brazil, and two-time champion Uruguay undermines the claim that it is the most challenging tournament. The World Cup, according to Messi, features the best teams and world champions, thus attracting the fervor of football enthusiasts worldwide.

When asked about his thoughts on the late Diego Maradona, Messi fondly remembered the cherished moments they shared. Expressing his sadness that Maradona couldn't witness Argentina's World Cup victory in 2022, Messi highlighted the strong bond they possessed despite media speculation. Messi emphasized that their affection for each other was evident, with Maradona always supportive and wanting the best for him.

As Lionel Messi continues to make his mark in the football world, fans and supporters eagerly anticipate witnessing the culmination of his remarkable career at Inter Miami, the club he declares will be his last.
