In the final practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton showcased his dominance, setting the fastest lap time by almost four tenths of a second. The Mercedes Formula 1 team had a promising session, with only Max Verstappen's late effort preventing a Mercedes 1-2 finish.

Hamilton's impressive lap time of 1m12.549s was the highlight of FP3, outperforming his rivals by a considerable margin. Mercedes made a strategic decision to introduce a revised front wing for Hamilton and George Russell, which proved to be successful in the challenging circuit.

George Russell momentarily held the top spot on the timesheets after running the new front wing design in Monaco. However, Hamilton quickly surpassed him and secured the session's best lap time with over 10 minutes remaining. At this point, Hamilton held the fastest sector times, boasting a lead of more than seven tenths of a second.

Although Verstappen and Russell made improvements in their final attempts, they finished 0.374 seconds behind Hamilton's Mercedes. Russell secured third place, followed by Lance Stroll's Aston Martin, which showcased impressive performance on the soft tire during Friday's practice.

Fernando Alonso, Stroll's teammate, initially led the session on hard tires before focusing on long-run simulations with Stroll on the medium tires. Daniel Ricciardo, who finished sixth-fastest for Red Bull, emerged as a strong contender throughout FP3, placing ahead of McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

Despite a challenging session, the lead Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, finished a disappointing 10th. Leclerc expressed his frustration, stating that his car was "still s*** on the brakes" and criticized their overall speed.

During the session, there were two incidents that briefly interrupted proceedings. Zhou Guanyu spun his Sauber and made contact with the wall, while Alex Albon's Williams clipped the infamous "Wall of Champions" at the final chicane. Albon's right-rear tire appeared to bend inward, but he managed to return his car to the garage.

As teams completed an impressive total of 574 laps during the session, anticipation is building for the Canadian Grand Prix. With Lewis Hamilton's dominant performance, Mercedes looks poised for a strong showing in the upcoming race.

The Canadian Grand Prix will resume shortly, and racing fans around the world eagerly await the thrilling competition that awaits them!
