Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has addressed the unique situation of potentially playing alongside his son, Bronny, in an NBA game and the question of what Bronny would call him on the court. In an appearance on "The Shop," a show he co-produces, James shared that Bronny will not be allowed to call him "Dad" during practice or games.

Laughing off the potential embarrassment, James made it clear that he and Bronny have already discussed this matter. He stated, "He cannot call me 'Dad' in the workplace, all right?" Once they leave the practice facility and the gates close, the father-son relationship can resume. Apart from the court, Bronny is welcome to call him "Dad" in the car or at home. However, on the court, Bronny will have to address his father as "2-3," "Bron," or even "GOAT," if he so desires.

The dynamic between Bronny and LeBron is anticipated to make history if they both appear in a regular-season game together, becoming the first father-son duo to achieve this milestone in the NBA. While LeBron, who turns 40 in December, recently signed a two-year, $104 million contract extension with the Lakers, allowing for another season to potentially accomplish this feat, it remains to be seen if it will happen in the upcoming season.

Bronny, currently 19 years old, is expected to spend a significant amount of time in the G League next season, the NBA's minor league developmental system. This will provide him with valuable experience and opportunities for growth before potentially sharing the court with his father.

James shared that it will be an adjustment for Bronny to refer to him by his name rather than "Dad" during games, given that he has always called him "Bronny." However, James emphasized that there will be no room for on-court distractions or informalities. Shouting "Dad! Push the ball up!" or "Dad, I'm open!" will not be acceptable.

Bronny made his debut in the NBA Summer League, showcasing a range of talent but also experiencing some ups and downs. In the 25 games he played at Southern California, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. On the other hand, LeBron continues to be a dominant force in the NBA. Last season, he averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game. He also played a pivotal role in Team USA's gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

As the basketball world eagerly awaits the potential on-court partnership between LeBron James and his son Bronny, the Lakers star has made it clear that a professional boundary must be maintained, ensuring that their relationship as teammates remains focused and free from any distractions.
