Speaking about his remarkable achievement, Norris expressed his satisfaction with his flawless performance. "It was pretty much a perfect lap," he explained. "I could feel the excitement building as I knew I was on a good lap, and it all came together perfectly in the end. This is one of my best pole positions, and I am extremely proud of it."
Notably, Norris's pole position also marks the first for McLaren at the Spanish Grand Prix since Kimi Raikkonen's accomplishment in 2005, further adding to the significance of the achievement.
Norris acknowledged that Red Bull and Verstappen had appeared stronger throughout the weekend but credited his team's changes for the final run for the improved performance. "We've been super close all weekend, but it was just all about the perfect lap, and that is what I did today," said Norris.
