As the Los Angeles Lakers intensify their search for a new head coach, two surprising candidates, Micah Nori and David Adelman, have emerged as potential choices alongside high-profile contenders Tyronn Lue and JJ Redick.

The Athletic's Jovan Buha recently discussed these options on the latest episode of Buha's Block, suggesting that Nori, an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Adelman, an assistant for the Denver Nuggets, could be the Lakers' top picks if they opt to hire a current assistant coach.

On May 6, on an episode of FanDuel TV's Run It Back, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium provided insights into the Lakers' coaching search, revealing that Lue and Redick are among the top candidates. Other candidates mentioned include former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer, Kenny Atkinson, and Charles Lee.

While the Lakers have not specified a timeline for making their decision, they are reportedly taking their time to thoroughly evaluate potential candidates. The hiring process, according to Buha, may take between six to seven weeks, with the aim of finalizing a new head coach before the upcoming draft.

One potential factor contributing to the delay is the availability of the candidates. Both Nori and Adelman are currently involved with teams still competing in the postseason, making it challenging to schedule interviews. However, there may be exceptions based on individual circumstances.

The Lakers' decision to consider lesser-known options like Nori and Adelman highlights the team's commitment to exploring all possibilities and finding the best fit for their roster. As the search continues, Lakers fans eagerly await news of the team's next head coach, who will be entrusted with leading the franchise back to its former championship glory.
