After facing challenges in Summer League play, Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James could potentially begin the upcoming season in the G League, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. James, the son of NBA superstar LeBron James, received mixed reviews during his first game in Las Vegas, where he was met with enthusiastic cheers from Lakers fans. However, his shooting struggles continued from the California Classic, as he only managed to score eight points on a 3-of-14 shooting performance and missed all eight of his three-point attempts.

When asked about the possibility of playing in the G League, James expressed his enthusiasm for any level of basketball he gets to play. It's worth noting that his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, had previously advised teams against drafting James if they planned on offering a two-way contract. Despite this, James signed a standard four-year deal with the Lakers. However, it seems that he may need some additional time to develop his game before being fully ready for the NBA.

Summer League coach Dane Johnson, who also coaches the South Bay Lakers, stated that discussions regarding James' starting point for the season have not taken place yet. Johnson mentioned that he couldn't comment on the matter, but acknowledged that many players, including those drafted, are likely to spend time in the G League for further development.

In other news, Jordan Miller of the Los Angeles Clippers expressed his ambition to earn a standard contract after scoring 36 points in Friday night's game. The 24-year-old wing played on a two-way deal last season and received All-Rookie honors in the G League. Additionally, veteran NBA player Amir Johnson is currently working with the Clippers this summer to assist in the development of the team's prospects.

As the NBA gears up for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Bronny James as he navigates his path to success in the G League. Only time will tell if the young talent can hone his skills and eventually make his mark in the NBA like his father.
