In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk expressed his confidence in a contract extension being reached between wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and the team. Juszczyk spoke about understanding both sides of the negotiation and emphasized the shared desire for Aiyuk to remain with the 49ers.
Juszczyk stated, "I support [Aiyuk] as a friend and as a teammate to try and get whatever he thinks he deserves and what he wants, and what is going to make him the most comfortable going forward. I really do think they will get it done with the Niners. Because he wants to be a Niner, they want him to be a Niner, and those are the two most important things. When you have that want on both sides, I think eventually you'll get it done."
Aiyuk, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, is set to earn $14.1 million in 2024. However, the talented receiver is seeking a new deal that reflects his impressive production over the past four seasons. Last year, Aiyuk earned AP Second-Team All-Pro honors after recording 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. These numbers came on the heels of a breakout 2023 season where he amassed 1,015 receiving yards.
As negotiations continue between Aiyuk and the 49ers, the belief remains strong within the organization that a deal will eventually be reached. Both parties have expressed their desire for a continued partnership, and with Aiyuk's standout performance on the field, it is clear that he is an integral part of the team's future plans.
The 49ers have a history of prioritizing their core players and ensuring their long-term success. As they look to solidify their roster for the upcoming seasons, reaching a contract extension with Aiyuk would further establish their commitment to building a competitive team. Fans and analysts alike will be eagerly awaiting news of a finalized agreement, as it would secure Aiyuk's role as a key player in the 49ers' offensive arsenal for years to come.
