The Minnesota Timberwolves faced yet another disappointment in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, losing 116-107 to the Dallas Mavericks and finding themselves trailing 3-0 in the series. While the entire team has had its fair share of struggles, one player who has notably faltered is Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns, a four-time All-Star center, has had an abysmal shooting performance throughout the series. In the three games played so far, he has averaged only 15.0 points per game while shooting just 27.8% from the field. His shooting from beyond the arc has been even worse, with a dismal 13.6% success rate on three-point attempts, making only 3 out of 22 shots. Game 3 was particularly disappointing for Towns, as he missed all eight of his attempts from downtown.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch did not shy away from criticizing Towns's performance in Game 3, stating, "He struggled, of course. It was hard to watch at times... He's struggling. There's no doubt right now." These shooting woes have been highly uncharacteristic for Towns, known for his career average of 39.8% from deep.

Furthermore, Game 3 marked a significant milestone in Towns's career, as it was the first time he missed every three-pointer in a game on at least eight attempts. Throughout his nine-year career, he has only gone 0-for-6 or worse from beyond the arc on five occasions.

To add to Towns's struggles, his current three-point shooting stretch in this playoff run ranks among the worst in NBA history. Only nine players in the league's history have had a worse three-point shooting span on at least 20 attempts during a three-game stretch in a single playoff run.

The Timberwolves are now faced with an uphill battle to salvage the series against the Mavericks. As the team looks for answers and adjustments, they will need their star center to find his shooting stroke and return to his usual form. Game 4 will be a crucial moment for Towns and the Timberwolves as they aim to avoid a series sweep and keep their playoff hopes alive.
