In a recent press conference, Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan and team chairman and CEO Clark Hunt addressed the future of the team's stadium, stating that all options are being considered. While the lease for GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium extends for more than six years, the Chiefs are looking ahead and exploring potential solutions for their home after 2031.

Hunt emphasized the significance of Arrowhead Stadium, calling it a special place for fans, players, and coaches. However, the team acknowledges the need to plan for the future and is grateful for the options available. Recently, the Kansas legislature passed a bill that could potentially pave the way for a new stadium through an upgrade to the STAR bond system.

The Chiefs' leadership expressed a commitment to working diligently in the coming months and years to find a solution that benefits both the team and the community. Hunt assured that an open mind approach will be taken and discussions will be held with stakeholders from both sides of the state line.

While the possibility of adding a roof to Arrowhead Stadium, a consideration from two decades ago, remains on the table, staying in Missouri does not necessarily mean renovating the existing facility. The team will thoroughly evaluate whether a renovated or new stadium would be more advantageous.

During Monday's training camp practice, which was dedicated to Season Ticket Members, Hunt had the opportunity to hear directly from fans about their attachment to Arrowhead Stadium. He acknowledged the sentimental value but stressed the importance of looking to the future, suggesting that a new stadium, regardless of its location in Missouri or Kansas, might be the most logical choice.

Addressing Donovan's earlier remarks regarding a potential stadium decision being made in six months, Hunt clarified that while progress is desired, stadium projects are typically slow and uncertain. He expressed optimism about making significant strides in the next six months but acknowledged that reaching the finish line within that timeframe might be ambitious.

As the Kansas City Chiefs continue their preseason preparations, the team's leadership keeps their focus on the future. With their lease stretching until 2031, they aim to ensure the best possible stadium solution beyond that point, keeping the interests of their dedicated supporters and the community at the forefront of their plans.
