Pop star Justin Timberlake was arrested on Tuesday in Sag Harbor, NY, on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) and other traffic violations. The 43-year-old singer was taken into custody shortly after midnight and subsequently charged with one count of DWI, as well as for not stopping at a stop sign and failing to stay in a proper lane of travel.
Renowned Hamptons attorney Edward Burke Jr., known for representing high-profile clients such as Matt Lauer, Lizzie Grubman, and Jason Kidd, is set to defend Timberlake against these allegations. In a statement released by Burke's office to Page Six on Wednesday, he expressed his determination to vigorously defend the pop star and mentioned that he awaits full discovery from the District Attorney's office.
Timberlake, famous for hits like "Cry Me a River" and "SexyBack," was seen leaving the Sag Harbor Village Police Department on Tuesday morning. Ironically, Burke's office is located in Sag Harbor, near the location where the incident occurred.
According to sources, the former *NSYNC member was pulled over after having dinner with friends at Sag Harbor's historic American Hotel on Monday night. It is noteworthy that police officers were stationed outside the hotel during Timberlake's visit. A criminal complaint obtained by Page Six revealed that the actor claimed to have consumed only one martini at the upscale Long Island hotel before heading home with his friends.
The court arraigned Timberlake on Tuesday morning and released him from custody on his own recognizance. The pop star's lawyer, Burke, has assured that he will be actively defending Timberlake and will share more details regarding the case at the appropriate time.
As the legal proceedings unfold, fans and the general public will be awaiting the defense strategy employed by Burke on behalf of Timberlake against the DWI charges.
