**Jürgen Klopp Appointed Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull**
LONDON - Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is set to reenter the soccer world sooner than anticipated, as Red Bull has announced his appointment as the head of global soccer starting January. Klopp will take on this strategic role without being involved in the day-to-day operations of the clubs within Red Bull's international network.
"He will provide strategic vision, supporting individual sporting directors in advancing the Red Bull philosophy," the company revealed in a statement. Klopp will also play a significant role in the global scouting operations and contribute to the training and development of coaches across the organization.
This move comes after Klopp had expressed intentions of taking a "long break" from soccer following his departure from Liverpool, where he led the team to seven major trophies over nearly nine years. His chapter at Liverpool concluded with a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton in May.
"I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this," Klopp shared in Red Bull's statement. "The role may have changed, but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not."
Broadcast reports from Sky Sports in Germany have indicated that Klopp's contract with Red Bull includes a clause allowing him to leave for the Germany coaching position should it become available. Currently, Julian Nagelsmann holds the post for the men's national team with a contract through the 2026 World Cup.
Before his celebrated tenure at Liverpool, Klopp made notable achievements with Borussia Dortmund, securing back-to-back Bundesliga titles and a domestic league and cup double in 2012. He initially gained recognition as the coach of Mainz from 2001 to 2008.
Liverpool saw a period of resurgence under Klopp, winning the Champions League in 2019 and capturing the Premier League title the following season, breaking a 30-year dry spell for the club.
In his new role at Red Bull, Klopp will oversee a diverse array of clubs including German league competitor Leipzig, Austrian team Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Brazilian side Bragantino, and Japan's Omiya Ardija. Red Bull also holds a minority stake in English second-tier club Leeds.
"I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs," Klopp stated. "Ultimately, I am one part of an organization that is unique, innovative, and forward-looking. This could not excite me more."
Klopp elaborated on Instagram about his new role, indicating that the move also represents a personal growth opportunity. "I want to learn again," he wrote. "When you are in the job and have to play every three days, you barely have time for that. Now I have time and the opportunity to develop football a bit as well. I am really looking forward to it, but now I go back on holiday."
