A recent development in the case regarding Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis and the alleged affair with Nathan Wade has seen potentially incriminating text messages excluded from evidence by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee. The text messages in question detailed the timeline of when the affair between Willis and Wade began, a crucial element in the case.
Willis, who became Chief Municipal Judge for South Fulton in 2019 before being elected as DA in 2021, has been facing allegations of being romantically involved with Wade before he was appointed as a special prosecutor in the Trump election fraud case. Both Willis and Wade have maintained that their relationship started in 2022 and ended a year later.
During the proceedings, Willis' co-defendant Mike Roman, who has been leading the effort to remove Willis from the case, attempted to admit text messages between attorney Ashleigh Merchant and Wade's former divorce attorney Terrence Bradley as evidence. However, Judge McAfee ruled that the messages were covered by attorney-client privilege due to Bradley's previous representation of Wade, and thus could not be considered as evidence.
While Willis faces the possibility of dismissal if found to have lied under oath or if it is proven that she improperly hired Wade and benefited from his pay, Judge McAfee is expected to make a ruling on the case next week after conducting further investigations into the matter.
