Late in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday, Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday showcased his defensive prowess with a game-changing steal against Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard. The steal, described as "unbelievable" by teammate Al Horford, helped secure a crucial win for the Celtics.

Holiday's steal came during a pivotal moment in the game when the Pacers were in transition. Demonstrating his exceptional instincts, Holiday anticipated Nembhard's right-hand drive, quickly positioned himself in front of him, and executed a perfectly timed left-handed swipe to snatch the ball away.

Reflecting on the play, Holiday humbly stated, "I think I just made a play. I feel like he's a right-hand driver and he's been very, very aggressive all night. But just made a play. I kind of jumped his right hand and got the steal."

The steal was reminiscent of Holiday's signature defensive move, which has been dubbed "The Jrue" by NBA analysts. His ability to consistently make such plays sets him apart as one of the league's top defenders.

The steal was not Holiday's only contribution in the clutch. Moments earlier, he attacked the basket, maneuvered past Pacers forward Pascal Siakam, and finished with a left-handed layup, earning an and-1 opportunity. Holiday subsequently made both resulting free throws, solidifying the Celtics' first lead since the second quarter.

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle expressed his discontent with the lack of a foul call during the steal. Nonetheless, the Celtics capitalized on the momentum, going on a 13-2 run in the final minutes of the game to secure a 114-111 victory, placing them at a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

Holiday's heroics were even more remarkable considering he had been listed as questionable before the game due to a non-Covid illness. Despite feeling unwell and missing shootaround earlier in the day, Holiday showcased his resilience by playing 38 minutes and contributing 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block.

Teammate Jayson Tatum lauded Holiday's performance, stating, "He was sick, dealing with chills and stuff like that... And for him to come out there and lay it all on the line for us and make the game-winning play essentially, especially on the defensive end, Jrue is just a big-time player."

Al Horford also praised Holiday's impact, highlighting his ability to deliver clutch plays and free throws when it mattered most. As a 17-year veteran, Horford expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play alongside Holiday, recognizing the value he brings to the team.

With his acrobatic steal and overall stellar performance, Jrue Holiday proved once again why he is regarded as one of the league's premier defenders. As the Celtics continue their playoff run, his contributions will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in their pursuit of a championship.

The Boston Celtics now hold a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals, positioning themselves as strong contenders for a spot in the NBA Finals.
