In a recent interview with CNN, renowned singer John Legend expressed his shock and horror at the sexual assault and abuse allegations surrounding music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs. Legend, who collaborated with Combs on a song last year, spoke out about the allegations even before a video surfaced of Combs physically assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016.

Legend described being "horrified" by the descriptions he had read prior to the release of the video evidence. He emphasized the importance of bringing such incidents to light and supporting the women who come forward with their stories. "My default stance is to believe women when they make these accusations and to make sure that we do whatever we can to support women [making them]," he stated.

The video, obtained by CNN, depicts Combs in a distressed state, emerging from a hotel room wrapped in a towel, while Ventura heads toward the elevators. Combs is then seen forcefully grabbing her by the neck, throwing her to the floor, and repeatedly kicking her, despite her lack of movement.

Legend condemned Combs' alleged actions, referring to them as "shameful." He expressed his desire for accountability and healing for Ventura and all the other women who have accused Combs of abuse. "It's quite a shame. I really just want accountability and hopefully some healing for all of his victims," Legend added.

It is worth noting that Legend and Babyface collaborated with Combs on the song "Kim Porter," paying tribute to Combs' former partner who passed away from pneumonia in 2018. The track was featured on Combs' album released in 2023, titled The Love Album: Off the Grid.

Ventura filed a civil suit against Combs in November, alleging that he had repeatedly raped and physically abused her throughout their on-again, off-again relationship spanning almost a decade. Describing herself as being "trapped in a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking," Ventura sought justice through legal action. However, the suit was settled shortly after it was filed, with Combs' lawyer stating that the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing.

Since then, Combs has faced multiple lawsuits accusing him of rape, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. He has vehemently denied all of these allegations.

As the allegations against Combs continue to unfold, John Legend's outspoken condemnation serves as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions and supporting the victims who come forward.
