**Jets' Late Rally Falls Short as Rodgers' Interception Seals Fate in London**
The New York Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers for critical moments, but Sunday's game at Tottenham Stadium highlighted the challenges they still face. Down by six points with just three minutes to go, the Jets seemed positioned for a comeback. Yet, the final drive ended in disappointment as Rodgers' pass was intercepted by Vikings cornerback Stephon Gilmore, sealing a 23-17 victory for Minnesota.
The Jets found themselves in a deep 17-0 hole early in the game, largely due to two interceptions from Rodgers in the first quarter, including one that was returned for a touchdown. Despite the poor start, the Jets managed to fight their way back, setting the stage for a potential game-winning drive in the closing moments.
With 3:07 left, the Jets started their final drive from their own 30-yard line. Rodgers connected with Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard to quickly advance the ball. A slant to Wilson and a 7-yard run by Breece Hall brought them to the Minnesota 26-yard line. However, the comeback attempt ended when Rodgers' pass to Mike Williams was intercepted by Gilmore.
The Vikings, who held a 10-point lead with just over 10 minutes remaining, were unable to move the ball effectively, largely due to inconsistent play from former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. A diving interception by Jets cornerback Brandin Echols gave New York another opportunity, which Rodgers capitalized on. Rodgers hit Wilson for a crucial 1-yard touchdown, narrowing the deficit to 20-17 with just over six minutes left.
Minnesota extended their lead to 23-17 with a 41-yard field goal by Will Reichard, leaving just over three minutes for the Jets to mount another drive. Unfortunately for New York, the game ended with Rodgers' third interception of the day.
The Jets had a rough start, doubling down on their struggles from the previous week’s loss to the Broncos. Two first-quarter interceptions from Rodgers, including a pick-six, handicapped the offense. Penalties also plagued the defense, particularly in their attempts to contain Vikings star Justin Jefferson.
Despite these setbacks, the Jets' defense made notable plays, including a sack by Will McDonald and a fumble recovery by linebacker Quincy Williams. However, the offense couldn't capitalize on these opportunities. The Jets ended the first quarter with zero first downs and struggled to find rhythm throughout the game.
Adding to their difficulties, Rodgers sustained a knee injury in the third quarter but returned to lead a 17-play drive that culminated in a Greg Zuerlein field goal to cut the Vikings' lead to 17-10. Another field goal by Reichard extended the Vikings’ lead early in the fourth quarter.
The loss drops the Jets to a 2-3 record for the season, highlighting the ongoing struggles of a team aiming to find consistency behind their star quarterback.
