In a surprising turn of events, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the woman who claims he is her biological father, Alexandra Davis, have reached a settlement, effectively ending the proceedings at the U.S. Federal Courthouse in Texarkana.

The settlement was announced on Tuesday afternoon after Jones sat down for lunch with Alexandra and her mother, Cynthia Davis. The details of the settlement were not disclosed, but Jones's attorney, Charles Babcock, confirmed that a resolution had been reached.

Jones, speaking outside the courthouse, expressed his relief that the matter is now behind them. "I have always maintained the proper perspective and respect for them," he said. "Unfortunately, we found ourselves in this situation, but I'm glad we were able to move past it."

During the trial, Alexandra appeared to be in good spirits as she interacted with Jones in the hallway. When asked about the settlement, she simply stated, "I feel good." Cynthia, closely following Alexandra, expressed her happiness, saying, "Everything got resolved. We're very happy about it."

The legal dispute began when Jones filed a lawsuit against Alexandra and Cynthia, denying the claim of paternity and alleging breach of a contract dating back over 25 years. According to court documents, Jones had agreed to financially support Cynthia and Alexandra on the condition that they wouldn't disclose Jones as Alexandra's father. However, Alexandra dropped her lawsuit seeking to dismiss the contract but still pursued a paternity test.

In March 2024, a Dallas County judge ordered Jones to undergo a DNA paternity test, a ruling that Jones initially resisted. Throughout the trial, Jones sought over $1 million in attorney's fees he had incurred in defending himself.

The testimony of Don Jack, a longtime associate of Jones who helped create the confidentiality agreement at the center of the civil suit, played a crucial role in the proceedings. Jack revealed that Jones had made payments to Cynthia and Alexandra, starting at over $7,000 and escalating over time. He also mentioned that Alexandra had requested additional financial support, including a new house and ultimately a staggering sum of $20 million.

While Cynthia claimed that Alexandra simply wanted a brief meeting with Jones, the Cowboys owner expressed his willingness to meet with her during the trial. That meeting took place over lunch, leading to the unexpected settlement announcement shortly thereafter.

"I regret that it came to this, and I'm glad that it is resolved to everyone's satisfaction," Jones stated, expressing his relief that the contentious legal battle has finally come to an end.

With the settlement reached, the details of the agreement will remain undisclosed. For now, both parties can move forward with a resolution in what has been a highly publicized and emotionally charged case.
