Israeli military operations in central Gaza resulted in the deaths of over 40 Palestinians, with more than 100 people injured, according to the government media office in Gaza. The attacks, described as a "heinous massacre," predominantly affected women and children in Deir el-Balah.

Hamas has condemned the strikes on residential homes, calling Israel a "rogue entity" that disregards human laws and values. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that since the war began on October 7, over 29,000 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed by Israeli forces.

The United States National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, stated that negotiations for a ceasefire and the exchange of captives have been "constructive," with talks held in Cairo. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not send representatives to the discussions.

Amidst the ongoing violence, Israel has outlined plans for the future of Gaza, including the installation of "local officials" with no ties to entities supporting terrorism. Netanyahu's proposal envisions indefinite military presence throughout Gaza, complete demilitarization beyond public order requirements, and no role for the Palestinian Authority post-war.

Israel is moving forward with establishing a "buffer zone" along the Gaza border, despite objections by the United Nations, which involves demolishing homes and buildings in the area. Analysts are critical of Washington's response, pointing out the lack of meaningful consequences for Israel's actions and the recent US veto of a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Negotiations for a truce continue in Paris, facilitated by Egypt and Qatar, with uncertainties about the specific terms of a potential ceasefire agreement. The international community faces pressure to intervene and end the escalating conflict in Gaza as civilian casualties mount.
