**Hotel Employee May Face Charges in Death of Liam Payne**
The sudden demise of Liam Payne, the former One Direction star, in Buenos Aires has prompted an in-depth investigation, with a hotel employee possibly facing indictment. Payne, who was 31, tragically fell from his hotel balcony on Wednesday. Argentinian police suspect that he had ingested a substance known as "cristal" before his death, a drug notorious for causing psychotic episodes, hallucinations, and aggressive behavior.
Authorities have revealed that evidence points to a hotel employee being the source of the drugs allegedly taken by Payne. An official from Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office confirmed that an indictment for drug distribution could be forthcoming. The investigation is ongoing, with prosecutors focused on identifying who supplied the drugs.
Prosecutor Marcelo Roma has publicly declared his intent to scrutinize the supplier of the substances Payne might have used. Six individuals, including Payne's manager, three hotel employees, and two women reported to be escorts, have been questioned. The escorts stated they were in Payne's room but did not witness him taking any drugs. They left the premises about an hour prior to Payne's fatal fall.
Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, had been with him during their stay in Argentina but had returned to the United States two days before the incident. According to a 911 call made by a hotel receptionist, Payne was behaving erratically and trashing his room shortly before his fall. The preliminary autopsy indicated that Payne suffered multiple traumatic injuries from the fall, leading to his immediate death.
Buenos Aires police released photos from Payne's hotel room showing items such as aluminum foil, a lighter, and traces of a white powder, which are still being tested to confirm if they match the suspected drug. Payne had openly discussed his struggles with substance abuse in the past and had recently been working towards sobriety.
