### Liam Payne's Death Ruled Accidental by Argentine Prosecutors
Argentine authorities have determined that former One Direction member Liam Payne's recent death was not the result of suicide. The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office in Argentina announced Thursday that Payne likely fell to his death from a third-story balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16 while unconscious.
The investigation revealed that Payne lacked any reflexive movements associated with self-preservation during the fall. Coupled with toxicology reports indicating high levels of drugs in his system, prosecutors concluded that Payne was either not fully conscious or in a state of decreased awareness at the time of his fall.
Further evidence supported that Payne was alone in his hotel room when the incident occurred, eliminating the possibility of foul play. However, investigations did lead to charges against three individuals believed to have contributed to the circumstances surrounding Payne's death.
One of those charged is an unidentified friend who claimed to be Payne's manager. Prosecutors accused this individual of abandonment, failing to inform Payne's family of his drug relapse, and not answering police calls after the incident. This person now faces five to fifteen years in prison.
Also charged were a hotel employee and an alleged drug dealer, both of whom are accused of supplying Payne with narcotics. Pink cocaine, a drug cocktail including ecstasy, ketamine, caffeine, and a psychedelic substance, was found in Payne's toxicology report. The investigation also revealed the presence of clonazepam in his hotel room, a drug used for epilepsy and panic disorders.
The case has further implicated two women, identifying themselves as prostitutes, who admitted to drinking with Payne in his hotel room hours before his death. One of the escorts’ inconsistent testimonies has prompted deeper scrutiny by investigators.
Payne's cause of death is attributed to multiple traumas and bleeding from the fall. In a somber conclusion to the investigation, Payne's body has been returned to his native England by his father, Geoff Payne, for burial. The examination into the exact circumstances of his untimely death remains ongoing.
