**FIFA Cuts Ticket Prices to Boost Club World Cup Opener Attendance**
FIFA has reportedly slashed ticket prices for the June 14 Club World Cup opener, which will feature Inter Miami facing off against Al Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The 65,326-capacity venue still has "tens of thousands" of unsold seats, as per The Athletic's report on Wednesday.
FIFA denied claims that fewer than 20,000 tickets had been sold for this highly anticipated match, which includes global football superstar Lionel Messi's MLS team. FIFA maintained that ticket sales are "much higher," although they refrained from giving an exact figure.
In a statement, FIFA proclaimed that the tournament will showcase numerous new and successful clubs from around the world in various cities across the United States. The organization also expressed confidence in achieving excellent attendance for this inaugural edition, seeing it as a tournament that will continue to grow.
To encourage ticket sales, prices for the June 14 game had dropped to $55 on Ticketmaster as of Tuesday night, compared to $349 at the tournament's draw announcement in December. The initial lower cost had already decreased to $230 by that month.
The 32-team FIFA Club World Cup will run through to July 13 and includes major clubs such as Inter Miami, Seattle Sounders, Los Angeles FC, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Inter Milan.
