### Injury Updates: Burnes, Yankees, and Blackburn Set for Changes

In a significant blow to the Arizona Diamondbacks, right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes left his recent game against the Washington Nationals due to elbow discomfort. Manager Torey Lovullo announced following the incident that Burnes is scheduled for an MRI. The team has already decided to exclude Burnes from their upcoming road trip, which could imply a simple skipped start or potentially a more extended absence depending on the MRI results. Burnes has been a standout performer in his first season with Arizona, posting a 2.66 ERA and a 3.89 FIP across 11 starts. Notably, he has been exceptional in his recent outings, maintaining a 1.67 ERA and a 26.6% strikeout rate in his last seven games. Should Burnes require rest, Eduardo Rodriguez's imminent return from the injured list may fill the gap in the rotation.

The New York Yankees are dealing with injury concerns of their own. Outfielder Jasson Dominguez exited their victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers with a left thumb contusion. Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver experienced hamstring discomfort and did not make an appearance in the game. Both players are set to be evaluated during the team's off-day. Dominguez suggested his thumb injury might not be severe, which could be promising for the Yankees. Conversely, Weaver felt something in his hamstring while warming up, leading manager Aaron Boone to opt for Tim Hill instead. Considering Weaver's outstanding performance this season with a 1.05 ERA over 24 outings, the team might opt for further imaging to ensure his condition is adequately addressed.

Conversely, the New York Mets have some positive news on the injury front. Right-hander Paul Blackburn is set to return to the mound, making his season debut for the Mets against the Dodgers. Blackburn, 31, was acquired in a midseason trade from the Oakland Athletics last year but has been sidelined with knee issues. His return comes at a crucial time for the Mets' rotation, which has been stellar despite missing not only Blackburn but also starters Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea. Blackburn will face off against Dodgers right-hander Dustin May, who holds a 4.20 ERA and 3.92 FIP over ten starts this season.
