Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has secured the fourth position in the 2024 WNBA MVP balloting, following an outstanding season that showcased her exceptional skills on the court. The voting results revealed that Clark received 130 points, placing her behind A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces who was unanimously voted as the league MVP for the third time. Additionally, Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx and Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty claimed the second and third positions, respectively.
Throughout the season, Caitlin Clark, the 6'0" guard, achieved remarkable milestones, notably setting records for assists both in a single game with 19 assists and throughout the entire season with a total of 337 assists. Her remarkable improvement and the Indiana Fever's resurgence in the latter part of the season after the Olympic break significantly elevated Clark's position in the MVP race, establishing her as the front-runner for the Rookie of the Year award. The team's qualification for the playoffs for the first time since 2016 was largely attributed to Clark's offensive prowess as she emerged as a key player for the Indiana Fever.
In the final 14 games of the season, Clark displayed phenomenal performance by averaging 23.1 points and 8.9 assists per game, while also showcasing her shooting accuracy with a 43.5 percent field goal percentage and a 37.0 percent rate from beyond the arc. Over the course of the season, Clark maintained impressive statistics with an average of 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. Noteworthy achievements by Clark included breaking the rookie scoring record with 769 points and registering the first triple-double by a rookie in a game against the New York Liberty on July 6, where she scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out 13 assists.
