In response to reports of the presence of the Poliovirus in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have initiated a comprehensive vaccination operation for troops operating in the area. The decision, made in coordination with the Ministry of Health, aims to protect both the soldiers and Israeli citizens from the contagious virus, which spreads through contaminated water.

The IDF, in collaboration with the Technological and Logistics Directorate (J4), began conducting sampling tests in various areas where remnants of the Poliovirus were discovered. Based on the findings, it was determined that all ground troops, including regular and reserve soldiers, would undergo vaccination to maintain their health and prevent the spread of the disease.

The vaccination process will take place gradually as the troops rotate and refresh. The IDF has emphasized that the vaccinations are administered as part of their responsibility to the public and their soldiers' well-being. However, it has also been clarified that soldiers who choose not to receive the vaccine will not be obligated to do so.

In addition to safeguarding its troops, the IDF is also working with various organizations to provide vaccines for the population of the Gaza Strip. In collaboration with international organizations, approximately 300,000 polio vaccines have been delivered to the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the conflict. This amount is expected to be sufficient for over a million residents.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, MG Ghassan Alian, is actively engaging with the international community to secure additional doses of the polio vaccine for residents in the Gaza Strip. Efforts are ongoing to facilitate the introduction of these vaccines to further protect the population from the Poliovirus.

Meanwhile, alongside the vaccination operation, the IDF has issued strict instructions to the troops to maintain personal hygiene practices. These measures aim to further prevent the spread of the virus and ensure the well-being of both the soldiers and the local population.

The IDF's proactive response to the presence of the Poliovirus in the Gaza Strip demonstrates their commitment to public health, ensuring the safety of soldiers, and supporting the well-being of all individuals, regardless of their affiliation.
