Elijah was reported missing on February 20 by his mother's boyfriend, Jesse Vang, who was responsible for caring for him at the time. Vang told authorities that he had taken a nap and, upon awakening, discovered that Elijah had vanished from his apartment on Mishicot Rd. The heartbreaking revelation sparked an extensive search operation and an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

In a significant development, Two Rivers police disclosed that Elijah's blanket was found several miles away on Goodwin Rd., located east of County Rd. B.
