3 Trillion Budget Request
In a recent development, House Republicans have expressed their anger over the inclusion of "woke" programs in President Biden's $7.3 trillion budget request. The proposal, which spans 188 pages, outlines approximately $5 trillion in tax increases, with the aim of evenly dividing them between corporations and the top 2% of earners, according to the White House.
A memo released by House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington, a Republican from Texas, highlighted billions of dollars allocated towards green energy initiatives and equity programs. Notably, $3 billion is earmarked for the State Department to promote gender equity and equality worldwide, while $1.5 billion is designated for the Transportation Security Administration's pay equity initiative.
The document also highlights a proposed $11 billion for the Department of Interior to preserve the stories, cultures, and histories across America. President Biden is seeking $8 billion for his American Climate Corps, a program aimed at hiring 50,000 climate resilience workers by 2031. Additionally, $10.6 billion is requested for the Department of Energy to bolster climate and clean energy research, development, demonstration, and deployment programs.
President Biden also aims to allocate $1.5 billion for the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights' environmental justice efforts. Furthermore, $500 million is requested for the Green Climate Fund to expand climate adaptation and mitigation projects in developing countries.
In an ambitious move to expand access to education, President Biden has requested $90 billion to facilitate free community college. This allocation comes despite pushback from both the House and Senate regarding his broader efforts to forgive student debt.
House Budget Committee Chairman Arrington expressed his disapproval of the budget request, stating, "Budgets are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet - they are a set of values and principles - and based on his FY25 budget, it is clear President Biden values a bigger, more radical, and more powerful federal government over the freedom, safety, and economic security of his fellow Americans."
The president's budget proposal is a significant part of his approach to win voter support as he seeks another term in the November elections. Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment on Chairman Arrington's memo, but no response has been received thus far.
As House Republicans continue to voice their concerns over the budget request, the fate of these "woke" programs remains uncertain. It remains to be seen how these allocations will be received and potentially revised as the budget proposal makes its way through Congress.
