House Republican witnesses brought forth serious accusations against Hunter Biden and James Biden, claiming that they had lied during their previous depositions concerning President Biden's alleged involvement in their international business ventures. Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of the Bidens, stated during Wednesday's hearing that both Hunter and James had committed perjury by denying a meeting that took place in May 2017 at the Beverly Hilton, where he met with Joe Biden as well.
The transcripts released by the Oversight panel revealed conflicting statements from Hunter and James Biden regarding the meeting. While Hunter confirmed the meeting had occurred in his own transcribed interview, James denied that it had ever taken place. Bobulinski emphasized Hunter's confirmation of the meeting and accused James of perjuring himself before the committee.
Moreover, Bobulinski claimed that Hunter Biden had lied about important details regarding a text message he had intended to send to an executive at CEFC China Energy in July 2017, just days before millions of dollars were deposited into accounts linked to him and James Biden. Hunter, in his testimony to the Oversight Committee, denied his father's "interaction" with business associates and claimed to have been "drunk and probably high" when he sent the message.
Bobulinski also suggested that there were further instances of perjury committed by Hunter and James Biden, expressing his hope that they will be held accountable. He alleged that their business deals relied heavily on the Biden family name and their access to Joe Biden, implying that foreign actors sought to gain influence and access to the United States government through their connections.
Another former business associate, Jason Galanis, joined Bobulinski in accusing Hunter Biden of misleading Congress about his father's awareness and involvement in influence-peddling schemes. Galanis claimed that Hunter sought a partnership with Harvest Fund Management and mentioned a board seat for Vice President Biden during a golf outing with Joe Biden. Galanis also noted phone calls he was present for, demonstrating Hunter's efforts to leverage his father's position for business endeavors.
Both Bobulinski and Galanis believe that Joe Biden's involvement was covered up by his family, and Galanis claimed to have faced retaliation for speaking out. However, Oversight Democrats highlighted testimonies from various witnesses who stated that the president was not involved in his family's business ventures.
As the hearing progressed, tension arose between Republicans and Democrats, with Republicans focusing on the millions of dollars amassed by the first family without credible evidence of work product and Democrats dismissing the allegations as part of a failed attempt to find wrongdoing by Joe Biden.
The impeachment inquiry witnesses painted a complex picture of allegations and counter-allegations regarding the Bidens' international business dealings, leaving further scrutiny and investigation necessary to ascertain the truth behind the accusations.
