San Diego County, CA - The recent heavy rainfall caused by an atmospheric river has led to several road closures due to flooding, prompting the County of San Diego Department of Public Works and the City of San Diego to warn drivers of the dangerous conditions.

Following a Flash Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday, road closures remain in effect throughout the county. Although the warning has been lifted, the roads still retain their wet conditions, posing a risk to motorists.

In Fallbrook, De Luz Road has been closed from De Luz Murrieta Road, while De Luz Murrieta Road is shut down from De Luz Road to the Riverside County line. These closures are expected to continue until the floodwaters recede and the roads become safe for travel.

In Escondido, drivers are advised to avoid Country Club Drive, which has been closed off from Harmony Grove Road due to flooding. Similarly, in Spring Valley, Quarry Road is inaccessible between State Route 125 and Lakeview Drive.

Residents in Rainbow are urged to take alternate routes, as Huffstatler Street is currently closed from Second Street to Fifth Street, making it impassable.

The City of San Diego has also reported road closures and impassable areas. Sandrock Road at Aero Drive and the 8600 block of Aero Drive have been closed off, while San Diego Mission Road and Mercy Road at Black Mountain Road are also inaccessible.

Motorists should avoid Orchard Road at Catalina Boulevard as well, as flooding has rendered it impassable.

Authorities are urging all drivers to exercise caution while on the roads, and to find alternate routes whenever possible. It is crucial to adhere to all road closure signs and to stay away from flooded areas, as driving through standing water can be extremely dangerous.

The County of San Diego Department of Public Works and the City of San Diego officials are closely monitoring the situation and will issue updates on road closures as conditions change. For the latest information, residents are encouraged to check the respective county and city websites or contact their local authorities.

As the region continues to grapple with the effects of heavy rainfall, it is essential for drivers to prioritize safety and take necessary precautions to ensure their well-being while navigating the roads.
