Western Washington is bracing itself for another stretch of scorching heat as a Heat Advisory remains in effect until Tuesday. Record-breaking temperatures have already been seen, with Seattle hitting a new high of 93° on Sunday, surpassing the previous record of 90°. Monday is expected to challenge another standing record, with a forecast high of 94°.

While the coastal regions can expect slightly cooler temperatures in the 70s and 80s due to the slowly approaching ocean air, the South Sound area is likely to experience triple-digit readings. The heatwave is also impacting the Cascades, where dry and warm conditions have raised the risk of wildfires. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for high fire danger in the region until Tuesday.

Tuesday is anticipated to be the last day of intense heat for Western Washington, potentially marking the hottest day for many areas. The forecast for Seattle predicts a scorching high of 95°, which is expected to break the standing record of 93°. The South Sound region may see temperatures surpassing the 100° mark, while parts of central and eastern Washington could experience temperatures well over 100°.

Relief from the intense heat is expected to slowly arrive on Wednesday or Thursday, as cooler air begins to push in from the coast. However, the interior areas may not experience significant relief until later in the week. East of the Cascades, the most extreme temperatures are anticipated from Monday to Wednesday of the following week, with highs reaching well over 100 degrees.

By Wednesday, temperatures are forecasted to return to the mid to upper-80s in most areas, eventually settling around the low-80s for the remainder of the week. Sunny conditions are expected to prevail throughout this period.

As the heatwave persists, residents are reminded to stay hydrated, seek shade, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. It is crucial to stay updated on local weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals during this challenging period.
