Philadelphia police are on the lookout for Alleem Bordan, a 29-year-old prisoner who managed to escape while being discharged from Episcopal Hospital at around 6:42 a.m. on Monday. Bordan, who had been in custody for car theft, outran officers and disappeared during the early morning incident, Philadelphia police Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore reported at a news conference.

According to authorities, an "intense search" was promptly launched but Bordan could not be located. As a precaution, a few schools in the vicinity were briefly placed on lockdown but those restrictions have since been lifted.

Bordan's arrest last week was related to the alleged theft of a car from a delivery driver. During his time in custody, Bordan reportedly complained of pain, prompting officers to take him to a medical facility as per standard protocol. After being evaluated and treated, he was subsequently discharged.

Records show that Bordan has a history of prior arrests dating back to 2016, including charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and weapons offenses.

Authorities urge anyone who comes across Bordan to contact 911 immediately.
