In a dramatic turn of events, New York Governor Kathy Hochul faced criticism and was denied the opportunity to speak at the memorial service of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller. Former Rep. Lee Zeldin, along with others, condemned Hochul's appearance at the service as disrespectful and self-serving.

Images captured outside the funeral home showed Hochul being confronted by mourners, leading her to ultimately leave the venue. Locally renowned Fox News host Brian Kilmeade, who resides in Massapequa, reported that Hochul was not only denied a request to speak at the funeral, but sources revealed that New York State Attorney General Letitia James had also sought to pay her respects to the fallen officer.

Zeldin, who narrowly lost to Hochul in the 2022 governor's race, expressed his dismay over Hochul's actions, stating, "How completely out of touch and disrespectful - it's about them when you make that kind of request. It really should be about the family." He also stressed that officials should respect the family's wishes regarding who speaks at the service.

Kilmeade further revealed that Hochul and other New York officials faced a frosty reception at the wake. He reported, "I'm told the family members let [Hochul] have it when she got there saying, quote, 'his blood is on your hands'." Kilmeade added that another family member confronted the governor outside, urging her to take action to change the laws that ultimately led to Officer Diller's tragic demise.

Notably, Hochul's attempts at speaking at the service were not limited to the memorial alone. Kilmeade divulged new information, stating, "I have now learned tonight from a source that Kathy Hochul, the governor, asked to speak at tomorrow's funeral. So did, hold on to something tight: A.G. Letitia James. Both were rejected by the family."

This recent incident is not the first time New York liberals' approach to law enforcement has drawn public ire. Zeldin pointed to a previous incident where Hochul was booed by fans at the home opener of the NHL's New York Rangers. New Yorkers, according to Zeldin, are expressing frustration with lax criminal justice policies compared to the focus on issues like MTA's congestion pricing.

Hochul has acknowledged the failures within the system, particularly with judges allowing dangerous suspects to be released without bail. She emphasized the need for better training of judges to reflect the changes that have been made.

As New Yorkers reach their breaking point, it appears that the actions and priorities of elected officials are increasingly coming under scrutiny. The emotional response from the family of Officer Diller highlights the public's dissatisfaction with politicians who seek to capitalize on tragedies for their own gain.
