According to a report from 404 Media, a Google employee accessed private videos on Nintendo's YouTube channel and leaked sensitive information ahead of the company's official announcement. The report is based on a copy of an internal Google database that documented self-reported privacy and security issues over a span of six years.

Details surrounding the incident remain scarce, but the report indicates that Google's internal investigation determined that the leak was "non-intentional," though it is unclear what exactly this means in the context of the case. The report also highlights several other instances where Google inadvertently violated its own privacy policies, such as Google Street View transcribing license plate numbers and a speech service mistakenly logging speech data, including that of approximately "1,000 children," for an hour.

In response to the report, Google assured 404 Media that all data related to these incidents has been purged. However, this leak serves as a reminder of the vast amount of information that tech companies can access, which could potentially be accidentally or intentionally leaked.

The "anonymous tipster" who provided 404 Media with a copy of the internal database has yet to be identified, but Google has confirmed certain aspects of its contents, according to the report. Nintendo, known for its strict enforcement of intellectual property rights, has not disclosed any actions it may have taken regarding this particular incident. Notably, the company has previously pursued legal action even against individuals involved in hacking groups, as seen in the case of Bowser.
