In a surprising turn of events, the "Golden Bachelor" contestants, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, have announced their decision to part ways in a joint interview on "Good Morning America." The couple, who captured the hearts of viewers during their journey on the popular reality show, confessed that despite their love for each other, they were unable to make their marriage work.

Jesse Palmer, who played a small role in their journey, took to social media to express his support and send love to the couple. Sharing a heartfelt photo taken shortly after the finale, Palmer wrote, "My heart is forever with these two beautiful souls. I am eternally grateful to have gotten to know Gerry and Theresa and to have been a small part of their journey."

Turner, at the age of 72, became the oldest star of the "Golden Bachelor" franchise. He made history by not only getting engaged but also getting married within a few months, with their nuptials being televised live during the "Golden Wedding" event. Their union brought hope to many individuals who followed their story. However, it appears that their inability to come to a decision about a permanent living arrangement played a significant role in their split.

During the interview, Turner admitted that after heartfelt conversations, they mutually agreed to dissolve their marriage. Despite the separation, both emphasized the love and support they have received from fans of the show and expressed their desire to maintain the hope and inspiration they provided.

Nist, who is based in New Jersey, and Turner, who calls Indiana his home, struggled to find a compromise in their living situation. They considered various locations, including South Carolina and New Jersey, but were unable to reach a final decision. Nist shared, "We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision." Turner added, "I still love this person. There's no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day." Nist echoed these sentiments, stating, "Yeah, I still love him."

While it is undoubtedly a heartbreaking situation for both Turner and Nist, they expressed gratitude for the love and support they have received from fans of "The Golden Bachelor." Their story served as a source of hope for many viewers.

As they embark on separate paths, both Turner and Nist are hopeful for a future filled with happiness. Despite the end of their marital journey, the impact they made and the love they shared will forever be remembered by those who followed their fairytale romance on "The Golden Bachelor."
