Glen Powell, known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Hit Man, received an outpouring of admiration and recognition as he was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame on Thursday night. The ceremony, hosted by the Austin Film Society at Robert Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios, celebrated Powell's achievements and marked the upcoming release of his Netflix movie, Hit Man.

The event was attended by Powell's former castmates and collaborators, who spoke highly of his talents and character. Richard Rodriguez, who cast Powell in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, praised the actor's dedication and work ethic. Tom Cruise, who could not be present in person but sent a taped message, hinted at a future collaboration with Powell. Cruise's message fueled rumors of a potential third Top Gun movie in development.

Powell's co-stars in Hit Man, Adria Arjona, Retta, and Sanjay Rao, took the opportunity to share their admiration for the actor. Arjona, referring to the "summer of Glen Powell" headlines, declared that this is just the beginning of the "Glen Powell decade." She praised Powell's versatility as an actor and highlighted his talents as a writer and producer. Arjona also mentioned Powell's humility and teamwork mentality, emphasizing his dedication to supporting others.

Arjona delighted the audience with an anecdote shared by Powell's sister, Leslie. The story highlighted Powell's selflessness, even from a young age, as he put his sister's tap dancing performance ahead of being "cool." Leslie described Powell as someone who always prioritizes others, both in his personal life and career.

Hit Man, directed by Richard Linklater who also collaborated with Powell on Everybody Wants Some!!, tells the story of a teacher who doubles as a fake hit man for the police. Powell's character finds his life complicated when he falls in love with a woman who wants to kill her husband. Based loosely on a true story, the film is set to premiere in select theaters on May 24 and will be available on Netflix from June 7.

Powell's induction into the Texas Hall of Fame is a well-deserved recognition of his talent, hard work, and impact on the industry. As his star continues to rise, Powell's future projects and collaborations are eagerly anticipated by fans and colleagues alike.

The event served as a testament to Glen Powell's immense talent and humble nature, solidifying his status as a rising star in the entertainment industry.
