### Giannis Antetokounmpo Criticizes Bucks’ Lack of Effort After Loss to Knicks

After the Milwaukee Bucks were handed a heavy 116-94 defeat by the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo did not mince words about his team's performance. Speaking to reporters postgame on November 9, 2024, Antetokounmpo expressed his frustration with what he saw as a lack of competitiveness from his side.

The Bucks, who had been riding high with two wins in their last three games, including strong showings against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz, seemed to falter against New York. Antetokounmpo pointed out the disparity in hustle, particularly noting how his team was often beaten to 50-50 balls and out-rebounded by the Knicks.

"Did we compete the previous game? Yes. Did we compete the two previous games, Cavs and Cavs? Yes. Did we compete today? No," Antetokounmpo said. Emphasizing the importance of effort, he added, "If you don't compete your ass off, you're not going to win the game... at least give yourself a chance."

Antetokounmpo's frustration was palpable as he highlighted the inconsistency in the team's effort, especially after a solid performance the night before. "We came to New York after playing great last night. Then we come here and lose by 30. Are we O.K. with not competing? I'm not O.K. with that s---. We've got Boston in two days. We don't compete, we're going to lose by 30. Simple as that."

During the press conference, Antetokounmpo also addressed the lack of paint penetration in the game. However, in the middle of his response, he took a moment to address a reporter who appeared disinterested, saying, "Hey man, if you don't want to be here, you can leave. If you don't want to be here, you can leave. I'm being honest with you."

The Bucks, considered a strong contender for the NBA title at the beginning of the season, now find themselves with a disappointing 2-7 record, tied for 13th place in the Eastern Conference. Antetokounmpo made it clear that unless the team increases its competitive spirit, their fortunes are unlikely to improve. Their next challenge comes on Sunday against the defending champion Boston Celtics.

The two-time MVP's candid comments underscore the urgency for Milwaukee to find its footing and bring consistent effort to each game if they have any hope of turning their season around.
