In a highly anticipated release, the beloved PlayStation action game, Ghost of Tsushima, has finally made its debut on the PC platform, specifically on Steam. Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and originally released exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2020, this critically acclaimed open-world adventure has already captured the attention of gamers worldwide.
The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima, priced at $59.99, includes all the enhancements from the "DIRECTOR'S CUT" edition, which was a hit on the PlayStation 5. Additionally, the game offers PC-specific features such as advanced graphics settings, extensive ultrawide support, and compatibility with performance-boosting technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.
Since its release earlier in the day, Ghost of Tsushima has soared to the top of Steam's Top Sellers chart, surpassing other popular paid games like Hades 2 and Helldivers 2, as well as notable free-to-play titles such as Counter-Strike 2 and Destiny 2. As of now, an impressive 57,707 fans are already immersed in the samurai adventure, a number expected to increase substantially during peak and weekend hours.
Fans and critics have praised the game's engaging combat mechanics, impressive presentation, and captivating narrative, which revolves around the story of Jin Sakai, a brave samurai defending the island of Tsushima from Mongol invaders. Originally released on PlayStation 4, Ghost of Tsushima received a "DIRECTOR'S CUT" version in 2021, which introduced enhancements like a Legends co-op mode and visual upgrades. This Director's Cut edition is the one now available on PC via Steam.
The PC launch of Ghost of Tsushima arrives shortly after a controversial incident in which the game was temporarily delisted from Steam in over 170 countries. Valve, the creator and overseer of Steam, promptly refunded preorders made by customers in these affected regions. The reason behind the delisting was the requirement of a secondary account linked to a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, which could only be created in 70 countries. This additional account was necessary to access the Legends co-op mode.
Ghost of Tsushima's expansion to the PC platform marks the third PlayStation Studios title to make its way to Steam this year, following the releases of Helldivers 2 and Horizon: Forbidden West. Moreover, fans can look forward to the upcoming PC release of the choice-driven horror game, Until Dawn, scheduled for later in 2024.
With Ghost of Tsushima quickly climbing the Steam charts and drawing in tens of thousands of players within hours of its release, it appears that the captivating samurai tale is set to conquer a whole new audience on the PC platform.
