In a scathing critique of the struggling Pakistan cricket team, head coach Gary Kirsten expressed his disappointment at the lack of unity within the side after their early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan suffered defeats against the United States and India, crashing out in the group stages of the competition.

Kirsten, who had previously guided India to ODI World Cup glory in 2011, did not mince his words when assessing the team's performance. He stated that he had "never seen such a situation" in his long coaching career and highlighted the absence of unity among the players.

According to media reports, Kirsten also voiced his concerns over the fitness level of the players and mentioned that the team's skill level lagged behind the rest of the world. These remarks further underscored the problems faced by the Pakistan team during the tournament.

Pakistan entered the T20 World Cup as runners-up from the previous edition, but their performances this year fell far below expectations. After suffering a shock loss to newcomers USA and being defeated by traditional rivals India, the team managed to salvage a consolation win over Ireland in their final match.

Kirsten pointed out poor decision-making as a key factor in their loss to India. Despite getting into a favorable position at 72 for 2 with six or seven overs left, the team failed to cross the finish line, leading to a disappointing defeat. The head coach was clear in his assessment that improvements in decision-making were necessary.

Sunday's victory against Ireland ensured that Pakistan finished third in Group A with two wins from four games. However, their defeats against the USA and India resulted in an early exit from the T20 World Cup, leaving fans and pundits disappointed.

The Pakistan cricket team now faces the challenge of addressing the issues raised by Kirsten in order to improve their performance in future tournaments. The lack of unity and fitness levels, along with the need to enhance their skill set, will undoubtedly be areas of focus for the team moving forward.
