In a bold move to enhance transparency and provide more convenience for passengers, Frontier Airlines has announced the elimination of change fees, following the footsteps of major carriers such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. The airline aims to offer customers the lowest total price and a seamless travel experience.

Frontier CEO Barry Biffle expressed enthusiasm about this new era for the airline, stating, "Today marks the beginning of a new era for Frontier - one with transparency in our prices, no change fees and the lowest total price." This change comes as part of the Biden administration's efforts to crack down on hidden fees that have been burdening consumers for years.

Previously, Frontier passengers with basic fares had to pay a hefty $99 fee to change flights within six days of departure. However, with the recent announcement, these fees will be abolished, allowing customers more flexibility and convenience in their travel plans.

Amid the ongoing pandemic, major airlines have been adapting to the changing landscape of travel. American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines have permanently eliminated change fees on standard economy and premium cabin tickets, recognizing the need to offer more flexibility to customers during these uncertain times.

Aside from waiving change fees, Frontier Airlines has also introduced new paid perks to enhance passenger comfort. In March, the airline revealed its plans to offer open middle seats, providing customers with more legroom and elbow space. This move aims to enhance the overall flying experience and meet the evolving needs of travelers.

Moreover, the U.S. Department of Transportation recently announced new rules requiring airlines to upfront notify consumers about fees for checked and carry-on bags, as well as costs for reservation changes or cancellations. These regulations are projected to save consumers over $500 million annually that they currently spend on airline fees.

Nevertheless, a coalition of major U.S. airlines comprising American, Delta, United, JetBlue, Alaska, and Hawaiian, along with trade group Airlines for America, filed a lawsuit last week against the Transportation Department in an attempt to overturn the new rules. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg expressed his astonishment at the airlines' actions, expressing his support for increased transparency and passenger rights.

As the airline industry continues to adapt to the changing landscape of travel, Frontier Airlines has taken a significant step towards providing customers with a more transparent and convenient travel experience. With the elimination of change fees and the introduction of new perks, passengers can expect a smoother journey, as well as the reassurance of knowing the full cost of their travel upfront.
