This comes after the team successfully acquired a third charter, although the identity of the seller was not disclosed.
The news comes shortly after the revelation that Stewart-Haas Racing will be ceasing its NASCAR operations at the end of the current season. Front Row Motorsports wasted no time in capitalizing on this opportunity to strengthen their position in the sport.
Team owner Bob Jenkins expressed his optimism about the future of NASCAR, stating, "We have a very positive outlook on the future of NASCAR, and as the sport plans for success, so do we." Jenkins further added, "I always have the vision to continue to grow and improve our team, and that commitment and desire never changes. I am committed to the sport and its passionate fans and partners."
While there have been no announcements regarding the driver lineup for the expanded team, it is known that Front Row Motorsports will continue to field Ford Mustang Dark Horse entries, solidifying their partnership with Ford. The team's technical alliance with Team Penske further adds to their competitive advantage.
Currently, Michael McDowell and Todd Gilliland compete under the Front Row banner, but McDowell will be heading to Spire Motorsports starting in 2025. Gilliland, on the other hand, will continue his tenure with the organization, entering his third season with Front Row Motorsports.
This expansion marks a significant development for Front Row Motorsports, as they previously ran three full-time entries in 2019 with drivers McDowell, John Hunter Nemechek, and Matt Tifft. Since then, the third entry has only been run in select races in recent seasons.
The team's growth for the upcoming season is a testament to their Tier-1 status acquired with Ford this year and demonstrates their commitment to continuous improvement. General Manager Jerry Freeze acknowledges the challenges of starting a new team but expresses confidence in their capabilities, saying, "With the opportunities in front of us, the talent we have in our leadership, and a bit of a runway to get there, I am confident that we can produce three competitive programs out of the box for the 2025 season."
As the team prepares to expand, their focus remains on their objectives for the 2024 season - aiming to secure playoff spots for both series. With their dedicated staff, existing culture, and a touch of good luck, Front Row Motorsports is determined to achieve their goals.
In addition to their NASCAR Cup Series venture, Front Row Motorsports will also continue to field an entry in the Craftsman Truck Series for the next season.
Fans of the sport eagerly await further updates from Front Row Motorsports regarding their driver lineup and their journey towards becoming a strong three-car force in the NASCAR Cup Series.
