In a recent announcement, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for Frigidaire and Kenmore Smooth-top Freestanding Electric Ranges. The recall was prompted by concerns over possible fire hazards associated with the products.

According to the Commission, the affected stoves have been found to exhibit several malfunctioning issues. Some models have the tendency to turn on spontaneously, even without being switched on, while others fail to turn off or heat to a different temperature than selected. These irregularities pose a significant risk of fire and burn hazards to consumers.

The recall notice reveals that since its announcement in August 2009, Electrolux, the manufacturer of Frigidaire and Kenmore stoves, has received a total of 212 reports of erratic behavior from consumers. Among these incidents, 14 cases involved fires, while eight cases resulted in injuries, including burns to the hands or arms, as well as smoke inhalation.

Consumers are strongly advised to stop using the affected stoves immediately and to contact Electrolux for a free repair or replacement. The company has also provided a toll-free number for customers to inquire about the recall and any further information related to the issue.

Electrolux has assured consumers that they are taking this matter seriously and are working diligently to rectify the problem. They have expressed their commitment to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of their customers.

As the recall continues, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reminds consumers of the importance of regularly checking for product recalls and promptly addressing any safety concerns. By staying informed and taking appropriate action, consumers can help prevent potential hazards and protect themselves and their loved ones from harm.
