In a flurry of activity, NHL teams wasted no time in making significant signings and acquisitions as free agency opened today. The offseason frenzy saw many star players changing teams in lucrative deals, as multiple sources reported.

One of the most noteworthy moves came out of San Jose, as Tyler Toffoli, a Scarborough Man forward, is set to join the San Jose Sharks. The signing, first reported by Kevin Weekes, is expected to bring a new dynamic to the Sharks' lineup. Meanwhile, Jonathan Drouin is reportedly hitting the open market, with Boston, St Louis, the NYR, and a possible return to Colorado expressing keen interest in securing his services, according to Darren Dreger.

The Nashville Predators have been particularly active, with reports suggesting that they are close to finalizing deals with both Jonathan Marchessault and star forward Steven Stamkos. Pierre LeBrun revealed that if the Predators can finalize things with Marchessault, his contract is likely to be a five-year deal worth around $5.5 million per season. Meanwhile, rumors swirl around Stamkos, with sources indicating that his potential deal with Nashville could be a four-year contract worth $32 million, or around $8 million in annual average value.

The Chicago Blackhawks are also making moves, adding forward Teuvo Teravainen to their roster, as reported by Chris Johnston. Teravainen, who began his career in Chicago and won a Stanley Cup there, is expected to bring experience and skill to the team.

The Boston Bruins are rumored to be making a splash in free agency, with reports suggesting their interest in defensemen Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm. Frank Seravalli noted that the Bruins have done significant legwork on both players, indicating their serious intent to bolster their roster.

In other news, it appears that the Seattle Kraken are set to make a big addition to their blue line, with Brandon Montour reportedly signing a seven-year contract worth approximately $50 million. Additionally, there is considerable interest in veteran center Sean Monahan, with the Columbus Blue Jackets among the teams vying for his services, according to Bob McKenzie.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have secured Jake Guentzel on a seven-year contract, details of which were revealed earlier today.

With the free agency market just opening, teams and players are still in negotiations, and further signings and trades are expected to be announced in the coming days. The frenzy continues as teams vie for the top talents available and look to strengthen their rosters ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
