Charlie Colin, one of the founding members of the popular American band Train, has tragically passed away at the age of 58. Colin's death occurred while he was house-sitting for a friend in Brussels, Belgium, where he slipped and fell in the shower. The circumstances surrounding his death remain scarce.

According to sources, Colin's friends only discovered his unfortunate accident when they returned home from their trip five days ago. The news of his passing was confirmed by his sister to Variety.

Colin played a pivotal role as the bassist in Train, contributing to the group's first three albums: their self-titled debut in 1999, "Drops of Jupiter" in 2001, and "My Private Nation." One of the band's breakthrough successes came in 2001 with the hit single "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also earned Train a Grammy award for Best Rock Song and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s).

Originally from Newport Beach, California, Colin first met fellow Train member Rob Hotchkiss during seventh grade. The two later attended the Berklee School of Music, where Colin studied jazz composition guitar. After moving to Los Angeles, Hotchkiss invited Colin to join one of his bands, which had signed a deal with PolyGram Records.

Colin, Hotchkiss, and guitarist Jimmy Stafford formed the band Apostles but eventually went their separate ways. Following his travels around the world, Colin returned to the United States and joined the newly-formed Train in 1996. The band achieved mainstream success and toured extensively before Colin left in 2003 due to substance abuse issues.

In the years following his departure from Train, Colin played with prominent rock bands such as Slipknot and Puddle of Mudd. He also reunited with Hotchkiss in 2015 to form the band Painbirds alongside Tom Luce. In 2017, Colin formed the Side Deal with Stan Frazier from Sugar Ray and Joel and Scott Owen from the PawnShop Kings.

Charlie Colin's untimely passing leaves a void in the music industry and the hearts of Train fans worldwide.
