Former President Donald Trump made headlines over the weekend as he announced the launch of his own line of tennis shoes at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia. The sneaker line, called Trump Sneakers, includes three different pairs: a pair of high tops priced at $399, red laceless athletic shoes priced at $199, and white laceless athletic shoes also priced at $199. In addition to the sneakers, a "Victory47" perfume and cologne are available for sale at $99 each.

The launch of the sneaker line is seen as a move to attract younger supporters, with Trump expressing his desire to "remember the young people" and Sneaker Con attendees. The products, which feature Trump's name, image, and likeness, are being sold online for preorder by CIC Ventures LLC.

This is not the first time Trump has licensed his name for products, having previously struck a deal to sell NFT trading cards in 2022 and 2023. The former president's foray into sneaker culture at Sneaker Con, an event known for its prominence in the sneaker community since its inception in 2009, marks another expansion of his licensing ventures.

Critics, including President Joe Biden's re-election campaign, have mocked the sneaker launch, with communications director Michael Tyler taking a jab at Trump's involvement in the sneaker industry. The rise of signature shoes linked to public figures such as politicians is relatively rare, but as the sneaker culture continues to grow, more individuals outside of the sports and entertainment realms are making their mark in the industry.
