Former University of Nebraska basketball player, Ashley Scoggin, has filed a civil lawsuit against current head coach Amy Williams and athletic director Trev Alberts, along with then-associate head coach Chuck Love and the university's board of regents. The lawsuit details how Scoggin's relationship with Love turned sexual and how she feared retaliation if she refused to participate.

According to the suit, in 2021, Scoggin had an internship with the athletic department at Nebraska and was later invited by Love to work at a table in his office. Love allegedly made advances towards Scoggin, eventually asking her if she had ever been involved with a coach before.

The suit also mentions an incident before a game against Penn State in February of 2022, where team members and staff reportedly recorded Scoggin in Love's hotel room, painting Scoggin as the one who initiated the relationship. Williams, accused of not providing training or policies to prevent staff from having relationships with athletes, allegedly removed Scoggin from the team amid the controversy surrounding Love.

Scoggin transferred to UNLV following her dismissal from the team at Nebraska after playing two seasons for the Cornhuskers from 2020-2022. Her attorney, Maren Chaloupka, described the situation as a troubling and serious case of predatory coaches pursuing relationships with student-athletes.

As of now, Williams and Love have not made any public comments regarding the lawsuit. The case sheds light on the power dynamics present in collegiate athletics and the responsibility of universities and coaches to address and prevent such misconduct.
