Grace Jabbari, in a filing made in federal court in New York, has detailed instances of alleged verbal and physical abuse by Majors during their relationship. The civil complaint seeks damages and provides a troubling account of rage-filled incidents dating back to their time together in 2021 during the filming of "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" in the UK.
Majors, who is set to be sentenced on April 8 in New York City, is currently facing a maximum of one year behind bars. His once promising career is now in ruins following the allegations against him. Previously, Majors was convicted in December of reckless assault and harassment after an alleged assault on Jabbari in New York City in March 2023. He was acquitted of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree.
Throughout the trial and even before it began, Majors vehemently denied the accusations, claiming that he was the victim of abuse by Jabbari and racism by the NYPD. In response to Jabbari's allegations, Majors had publicly labeled her a liar and even obtained a de facto warrant for her arrest.
In the defamation lawsuit, Jabbari's lawyer accused Majors of repeatedly calling her client a liar and attempting to discredit her. The lawsuit also mentions the unsealed texts and recordings from the trial, which seemingly contradicted Majors' claims of never having assaulted a woman.
Majors' legal team, led by attorney Priya Chaudhry, suggested that they would file counterclaims against Jabbari in response to the lawsuit. Meanwhile, the Manhattan District Attorney's office, who successfully prosecuted Majors' criminal case, declined to comment on the new legal action.
The fallout from the allegations has been significant for Majors. His management and PR firms dropped him shortly after the incident with Jabbari, and Marvel terminated his contract. This has resulted in the shelving of the film "Magazine Dreams" and the loss of several other film roles and ad campaigns. Despite this, WME, Majors' talent agency, has stood by him throughout the legal proceedings.
As the defamation lawsuit unfolds, Jabbari's lawyer expressed confidence in their pursuit of justice. They believe that shedding light on the truth and ensuring transparency will serve as a testament to their client's courage in holding someone with significant power accountable.
The trial and its aftermath have sparked a broader conversation about domestic violence and the power dynamics in abusive relationships. The outcome of the defamation lawsuit will likely have a lasting impact on both Majors' career and the narrative surrounding domestic violence in the entertainment industry.
