The charges stemmed from a domestic dispute involving Majors and his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
Majors, through his attorney, vehemently denied the allegations against him in a statement to CNN back in August. However, in December, a New York jury found him guilty of one count of reckless assault in the 3rd degree and a non-criminal charge of harassment as a violation. Notably, he was acquitted on another assault charge and one count of aggravated harassment.
Majors' attorney took action earlier this year by filing a motion in February, asking Judge Michael Gaffey to set aside the verdict and acquit Majors of the charges. However, the prosecution countered by urging the judge to deny Majors' motion.
Ultimately, Judge Gaffey denied the defense's motion on Monday, as confirmed by a copy of the decision obtained by CNN on Wednesday. Majors' attorney, Priya Chaudhry, expressed disappointment with the outcome of the motion but emphasized respect for the legal process in a statement provided to CNN.
The development comes as a setback for the former Marvel actor, who was hoping to have his conviction overturned. Majors, known for his notable roles in Marvel productions, will now have to face the repercussions of the conviction on assault and harassment charges.
It remains to be seen what impact this decision will have on Majors' career moving forward, given the serious nature of the charges and the potential consequences he may face as a result.
