### Former Disney Employee Accused of Dangerous Software Sabotage

A former Disney employee, Michael Scheuer, is facing serious accusations of hacking into Disney's menu-creating software to falsify allergen information. According to a federal criminal complaint lodged in the U.S District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Scheuer is charged with unlawfully transmitting a program to a protected computer and deliberately inflicting damage without authorization.

Scheuer previously served as a menu production manager at Walt Disney World, a role that involved overseeing the creation and publication of menus across Disney's extensive restaurant network. After being fired in June due to alleged misconduct, Scheuer reportedly continued to access the software from a personal device. Over the course of three months, he is accused of altering menu prices and inserting profanity into the system.

The most alarming allegation in the complaint, which was first reported by Court Watch, is that Scheuer manipulated allergen information on menus. He allegedly made menu items appear safe for individuals with peanut allergies when these items could potentially be life-threatening. On September 23, federal agents searched Scheuer's home and seized four personal computers.

Despite the serious charges, Scheuer has denied any wrongdoing. He claims that Disney is attempting to frame him out of concern over the circumstances surrounding his termination. Although Scheuer admitted to using his personal Google Chrome profile for work while employed, he could not confirm whether he accessed Disney's systems post-termination, suggesting he might have done so for financial or paystub reasons.

David Haas, Scheuer's attorney, has stated that no injuries or harm resulted from the alleged tampering. Haas emphasized his intention to rigorously defend his client, citing Scheuer’s belief that a disability influenced his termination from Disney. Haas also mentioned that Scheuer had filed an EEOC complaint after Disney purportedly failed to provide him with termination details.

Disney has not issued an immediate response to the allegations.
