Former Disney Channel actress Bridgit Mendler made headlines on Monday as she announced on social media platform X that she is now the CEO of Northwood Space, a space startup focusing on building ground stations connecting to satellites in space. The company was formed in 2023 by Mendler, Griffin Cleverly, and Shaurya Luthra and operates out of El Segundo, California. Mendler's husband, Cleverly, is also part of the company as the chief technology officer. Mendler, known for her roles in Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie" and "Wizards of Waverly Place," has since pursued a diverse career path, earning degrees from the University of Southern California, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a JD from Harvard Law School. Mendler, who described herself as a mom to a 4-year-old boy, shared her passion for space law and the mission of Northwood to expand access to space connectivity. Northwood aims to build satellite ground stations with fast production and deployment flexibility, able to provide connectivity in a matter of days.
