Former Chiefs Star Kareem Hunt Returns to Kansas City

The Kansas City Chiefs made a surprising move last week by signing former star running back Kareem Hunt to their practice squad following Isiah Pacheco's leg injury. Hunt, who was drafted by the Chiefs in 2017, did not see action in Sunday night's victory over the Atlanta Falcons. However, on Tuesday, the team elevated him to the active roster by waiving running back Keiontay Ingram, as reported by ESPN.
Hunt, who initially rose to prominence with the Chiefs and led the NFL in rushing in 2017, had a controversial exit from the team in 2018 after a video surfaced showing him pushing and kicking a woman. Despite not being charged, the incident led the Chiefs to release him midway through the 2018 season. Subsequently, Hunt joined the Cleveland Browns for five seasons, during which his performance saw fluctuations, with his yards per carry and reception averages hitting career lows in recent years.
Now at age 29, Hunt's return to Kansas City adds an intriguing element to the team's running back situation. While his recent statistics may not be as stellar as his early career with the Chiefs, his familiarity with the franchise could be a significant factor in his role moving forward. The Chiefs will be counting on Hunt to provide depth and experience in the running back position as they continue their pursuit of success this season.
