### New Storm AL94 Monitored as Florida Recovers from Recent Hurricanes

As Florida continues its recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton, the National Weather Service (NWS) is keeping a close watch on a new potential storm in the mid-Atlantic called AL94. If it reaches tropical storm status, it will be named Tropical Storm Nadine.

Recent spaghetti models, which are weather projections that display possible cyclone paths, show AL94 possibly moving northwest from its current position. The projected path could take it north of Antigua and Barbuda, toward the Dominican Republic and the southeastern tip of Cuba, before steering southwest toward Jamaica. The clustering of model lines indicates a higher confidence in this projected trajectory.

Florida, still recuperating from Hurricanes Milton and Helene that caused significant damage over the past month, is notably absent from the current forecast for AL94. However, the possibility remains that the storm could alter its course, potentially threatening Central America, southern Mexico, or even Florida.

AccuWeather's lead hurricane forecaster, Alex DaSilva, highlighted the challenge of predicting AL94's ultimate path. "One possibility would take the system westward into Central America and southern Mexico, and the other is, unfortunately, toward Florida," DaSilva explained. He noted that late-season westerly breezes typically make it difficult for storms to continue northwest into Texas.

The NWS update as of 2 a.m. ET on October 15 reported that AL94 is currently producing sporadic showers and thunderstorms in a region characterized by dry air, reducing the likelihood of development over the next few days. However, conditions might become more conducive for development later in the week, with a tropical depression possibly forming as it nears the Leeward Islands.

As it stands, AL94 has a 10 percent chance of developing into a tropical storm within the next 24 hours, but this probability increases significantly to 60 percent over the next seven days. The Weather Channel meteorologist Robb Ellis noted that while the region is not the most favorable for tropical development, it is not unusual for tropical systems to develop near the Antilles.

Historically, the warm waters of this region have influenced the formation of storms this season, with Hurricanes Beryl, Debby, and Helene as well as Hurricanes Francine and Milton, originating in similar conditions. As AL94 moves closer, its development will continue to be closely monitored.
