In a spokesperson's statement shared with People magazine, it was revealed that the Los Angeles Coroner's office informed Lenny that Richard's death was accidental, resulting from complications from recent falls and heart diseases playing a contributing role.
The statement also confirmed that the toxicology report came back negative, aside from medication that was prescribed to Richard. This finding eliminates any suspicion of foul play or substance abuse in connection with the fitness icon's passing. On the night prior to his demise, Richard Simmons experienced a fall in his bathroom, feeling dizzy. Despite his housekeeper's insistence on seeking medical attention, he declined, opting to see his doctor on the following day instead. Compliance with his wishes, his housekeeper helped him back to bed.
